New Office Hours

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Just wanted to let everyone know that my office days (processing/retouching/phoning/emailing/scheduling etc) are Tuesdays and Fridays from 11am-3:30pm. My stay-at-home-mom job was suffering and I was getting complaints filed against me with the management. ;) I realize I've only got one crack at this job and I'm not going to mess it up.

It's good, it's going to cause me to be much more efficient with my business and invest my time more appropriately. All you "momtrepreneurs" understand where I'm coming from and I hope everyone else does too!

Have a great day!!

Three more successful Diva Days!

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

March 14 & 15 I shot at the Retro Suites in Chatham, and managed to fit in 14 shoots! It was a lot of fun but man was I exhausted the day after they were all done! haha

I just shot 5 more girls here in Sarnia at the Village Inn, and that was a blast too.

I haven't booked my next boudoir shoot but I will be working that out next week as I have 4 people on a waiting list, and by popular demand, I'll be shooting at the fabulous Retro Suites once again.

Let me know if you're interested in reserving a spot and I'll send you the information once the date is booked.

Kelly & Bob!

Thursday, April 2, 2009

I had the opportunity to shoot a quick engagement session for Kelly & Bob! They took advantage of my "Portraits for a cause" special and we managed to get nice enough weather and light to pull off some great shots down by the Bluewater Bridge here in Sarnia. This was Tuesday, March 17. I'm late posting these...

Congratulations Kelly & Bob, you guys were really fun to shoot with and I wish you the very best in your life together!!

Only a few spots left!

Friday, March 13, 2009

As most of you know, I'm probably the Retro Suite's most enthusiastic fan. I grew up in Chatham, but didn't get to experience the newly renovated Retro Suites Hotel until this past summer. I shot a wedding there for a close friend, and loved the Study room. I moved back into Sarnia and put it out of my mind. When I was attending a dinner for the Southwestern Ontario Wedding Photographers, hosted by John Lyons, and I fell in love.

I have been booking and holding "Diva Days" at the Retro Suites ever since. I have shot in the Chantilly Lace, King William, Urban Studio, Nantucket, and Chrome-e-Delic rooms. My favourite is the Urban Studio.

Although I am a loyal client of the Suites, I do have Sarnia girls who aren't able to go to Chatham for shoots. Either they don't wish to travel, or they have a hard time sneaking off for several hours to do the shoot as a surprise for their spouse! Whatever the reason, I've had enough clients ask to shoot in Sarnia.

That said, I am now shooting my Sarnia shoots at the Village Inn here in Sarnia. Their hotel is beautiful, it's independantly owned and operated and I love the location.

We will be shooting in their KING room, the largest they have, and typically their honeymoon suite. It has a two person jacuzzi, a king sized bed, and a living room in the room as well. It's fabulous.

SO I am now booking one hour sessions on April 4th at:

10:30 - 11:30 - booked MB
11:45 - 12:45 - booked MB
1:00 - 2:00 - booked MB
2:15 - 3:15 - booked SM
3:30 - 4:30 - booked LM
4:45 - 5:45 - booked NL
6:00 - 7:00 -
7:15 - 8:15 - booked AJ
8:30 - 9:30 - booked TM

Spots are $250 and include an hour of shooting, your proof images in 4x6 prints, as well as a password protected gallery for you to order retouched images and/or albums if you so wish. You may also purchase digital negative files as well.

The cost includes the session fee, the use of the room, the use of my props, costumes and lingerie(panties not provided) and as I said, 4x6 prints of your images. I don't guarantee any number of images, it really depends on the person. Typically, there are 30-150 images.

I have an information letter that I send you once you've booked your spot, and I require a $100 retainer to hold your appointment. I take cash, cheques, and in the next couple weeks I'll be able to accept Visa and Mastercard as well.

If you'd like to book a spot, you can email me at paintedamber@gmail.com, call me at 519.491.7355 or go to my website and fill out the Contact page.

Brooke Nicholls - Musician

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Brooke is putting out a new album and we did a shoot for her CD cover, as well as promo pics for her website and for diferent venues etc.

We had a gorgeous sunny day in Sarnia and got some great shots down by the Bluewater Bridge. I loved the light!! The ice and water colours were just stunning as well. Then when we lost the light we came back to my studio and goofed around for a while, and turned out some really great shots.

Thanks for the opportunity to shoot with you Brooke and for trusting me to shoot your cover image!! I can't wait to hear the album!!

Portraits for a Cause

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Hello everyone!

I have recently found out about a situation where a close friend of mine is in need of help financially. I don't have any extra cash floating around right now so I'm selling portrait sessions and all the money will go to this person.

I'm filling 45 minute spots for $65 and that will include 2- 4x6's, 3-5x7's and 1- 8x10. You can purchase more prints than that if you wish as well. ALL PROCEDES will go to my friend, especially from extra prints and/or albums.

How it will work, is you will come and do your session in my home studio. I have 4 professional backdrops to choose from. You will have unlimited poses and unlimited people in your shots. The average session turns out around 30-70 usable images, sometimes more. The family shoot I did for the Melvilles last week (see the last blog entry) gave us 117 so it really depends on the willingness and photogenic-ness of the subjects!! haha

Your images will be uploaded to a password-protected gallery where you can view them online for one month. You can also give the password to friends and families and they can order their own prints from the website as well. I take Visa, Mastercard, Cash and Cheques. You will choose the images for your prints that come with your session fee. Just to give you an idea, I normally charge $150 for a one hour portrait session, so this is an incredible deal.

My goal is to raise $500. If I can book 8 shoots I should cover it, and any extra print & album sales will be a bonus! Please consider doing a shoot - family portraits, maternity portraits, a group of friends, siblings (some do a surprise shoot for their parents!) - and like I said, there is no limit on the number of people or the number of poses!

The appointments for the shoot are as follows:

Wednesday, March 11

5:00-5:45pm
6:00-6:45pm - booked M&J
7:00-7:45pm - booked K&B
8:00-8:45pm - booked E&T

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this email and I would greatly appreciate your help. What goes around, comes around, after all, and you never know when you may be in a pinch and someone will be able to pay it forward and help you out. I have had so many wonderful friends help me out when I need it over the years so I'm hoping to be able to do the same. Thanks again!!!

Amber :)

The Melville Family!

Monday, February 23, 2009

Last Thursday I shot family portraits for Tara & Adam Melville. This was their first family portrait session with their new little boy, Zack, who is almost a month old! Thanks for giving me the privilege of shooting your family portraits, and Zack's first photos! You guys have a beautiful family and I hope you enjoy the photos for years to come!!
